Non-profits in Ontario have until October 2024 to bring their by-laws into compliance with the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA) 2021.
The OVCA is proud to announce that we have partnered with Sport Law – an Ontario law and consulting firm with extensive experience in sport governance – to help your club and its governance structure become compliant with the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act (ONCA).
If your club is in the process of bringing your governance into compliance, or you don’t know where to start, Sport Law is offering OVCA member clubs special package pricing so that you can have access to experts in the field at reasonable rates. From a simple update to a full governance review, the OVCA and Sport Law has you covered.
In addition, if you take advantage of outside legal counsel or consulting (be it Sport Law or any other legal professional), the OVCA will refund your club up to $250 of any legal fees paid!
You have just under a year to bring your by-laws into compliance. You don’t have to do it alone, thanks to the OVCA and Sport Law.
How do we take advantage? Based on your current stage in the process, select a package that you think meets your club’s needs, and contact Steve Indig of Sport Law and mention that you’re an OVCA club. He (or a member of Sport Law’s team) can then look over your current by-laws and work with you depending on the level of support you require.
Once you are billed for any services provided, send a copy of your bill to the OVCA at ONCA@ovca.com. Your reimbursement of up to $250 will then be processed.
