The 2024 Annual General Meeting will be held on MONDAY, September 23rd, 2024 at the Rideau Curling Club. Stay tuned to the website and our socials for registration information and supporting documents.

CALL FOR BOARD MEMBERS: We are looking for driven, enthusiastic members to join our Board! Passion for the game and for helping your fellow curlers is a must, but we’re also looking for people with a financial background and/or someone who has been involved with youth curling.

There are two positions open for election on the Board for a two-year term. If you are interested in sitting on our Board of Directors, or if you have any questions, please email chair@ovca.com.

LOOKING FOR AN IT DIRECTOR: The OVCA is also looking for a technically inclined volunteer to become our non-voting IT Director.  This person will have familiarity with the Google Workspace suite of apps and their administration, as well as some familiarity and experience working with web servers.  This position is for an indeterminate term (there is no term limit).

DEVELOPMENT FUND REVIEW COMMITTEE: If neither of those positions are of interest, we’re still looking for ONE (1) person to sit on the Development Fund Review Committee.  The DFRC screens applications for the Development Fund, and helps guide applicants through the process.

**EDIT August 23rd, 2024 – Posting changed from 2 to 1 person needed. The DFRC currently sits at 5 of 6 possible members.

NEW Capital Rebate Program

The World Men’s Curling Championship (WMCC) was a huge success! As a result, the OVCA is pleased to announce we’ve received just over $160,000 in legacy funding from the event. A huge thanks to the Curling Clubs in the Ottawa Valley and Outaouais that helped promote tickets sales and volunteerism.

Earlier this year, we announced the first program to benefit from these funds – teams representing their province at selected events will have their OVCA Team Grant matched from the WMCC Legacy Fund.

Today, we announce the next program – the OVCA Capital Projects Rebate program.

If your club has started a capital upgrade project, or is planning one this summer, the OVCA can help.  We are offering member clubs up to a $1300 rebate on any capital project that began on or after May 1st, 2024, and that has been completed and paid for by your club.

What qualifies as a capital project? Pretty much any investment in your club’s infrastructure can qualify! New chairs for the lounge? House camera systems? New sound system for the bar? These projects and more could qualify for the rebate!

To be eligible you must:

  1. Have a project that started on or after May 1st, 2024.
  2. Fill out the grant application form.
  3. Proof of payment (partial or otherwise) for your project.
  4. Send your application and proof of payment to Brent Litle at  brent.litle@ovca.com

Your rebate can be for one project, or for multiple smaller projects but, until further notice, each club can only apply ONCE.

For more information, or to send in your completed application, contact Brent Litle at brent.litle@ovca.com

Win Your Curling Fee!

In the summer of 2022, the OVCA started a long-term strategic review process.  As the curling world emerged from the public health emergency, the OVCA needed an updated mission and strategic plan in order to best serve its members and their curlers.

As a part of this review, the OVCA is looking for your input and opinions. With this survey, you’ll have the chance to help shape the OVCA’s future and provide us with your ideas and opinions.

The survey should only take a few minutes of your time to complete.  As a thank you, you can choose to enter a special draw to WIN YOUR 2024-25 CURLING SEASON FOR FREE!  That’s right – the OVCA will pay the curling fees of six lucky respondents (one for each OVCA Region – City, East, South, Upper Valley, Lower Valley and Outaouais).

Please take a minute to give us your feedback, and you could curl for free in 24-25.
